The annual Traslacion of the image of Jesus Nazareno drew an unprecedented 9.6 million devotees this Traslacion 2026, making it the largest and longest procession in the event’s history.

The Andas carrying the image returned to the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno in Quiapo at around 10:50 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, after a procession that lasted over 30 hours.

Preparations for the feast day began in December with the traditional Misa Novenario and blessing of Jesus Nazareno replicas, attracting thousands of pilgrims daily.

The Pahalik ritual at Quirino Grandstand started on January 7 and was extended until January 10 due to sustained crowds.

Authorities deployed security forces, medical teams, and volunteers along the route, while many devotees camped overnight at Luneta and nearby areas.

Church officials described the procession as historic, highlighting the scale of devotion and weeks of careful preparation that made Traslacion 2026 the longest and most attended in Manila’s history.
