Pormal ng naupo bilang ika-59th Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff si Gen. Andres Centino kahapon sa isinagawang Change of Command Ceremony sa Camp Aguinaldo.
Si Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin ang nagsilbing Presiding Officer sa nasabing seremonya.
Magugunita na si General Centino ay dati ng nagsilbi bilang AFP Chief of Staff mula November 12,2021 hanggang August 8,2022.
Sa panahon ni Centino bilang pinuno ng Sandatahang Lakas ng Pilipinas kaniyang ipinatupad ang apat na major thrusts sa kanilang organisasyon.
Kabilang sa mga major thrusts ang operational efficiency, optimal use of resources, advancement of professionalism and meritocracy within the organization, at capability development.
Pinalitan ni Centino si Lieutenant General Bartolome Vicente Bacarro, na awardee ng Medal of Valor.
Sina Gen. Centino at Lt. Gen. Bacarro ay classmates sa Philippine Military Academy (PMA) ‘Maringal’ Class of 1988.
Ayon kay AFP Spokesperson Col. Medel Aguilar na naging maayos ang seremonya ng Change of Command kahapon.
” As a professional organization, the whole AFP is united behind the leadership of GEN CENTINO as it continues to perform its mission of protecting the people and defending territorial integrity and national sovereignty,” pahayag ni Col. Aguilar.
Siniguro AFP na normal ang lahat ng operasyon at hanay nila sa gitna ng mga pekeng balitang kumalat sa social media kaugnay sa umanoy namumuong ‘destabilization plot.’
Paliwanag ng AFP kaugnay sa movement ng mga tanke ng PNP kahapon bahagi ito ng kanilang simulation exercises bilang paghahanda sa Pista ng Itim na Nazareno.
