Inamin ng Department of Health (DOH) na ang tuloy-tuloy na improvement sa healthcare system capacity ng bansa ay indikasyon na na-flat na ang curve o bumagal na ang COVID-19 infection.
“We grabbed the opportunity to ramp up, to raise the health systems capacity to be able to deal with the threat, if not with actual cases,” ani Health Sec. Francisco Duque III.
“The epidemiologists, not the IATF, its a third party indepedent modular groups. These are scientists, experts in the field of epidemiology in general and the epidemiology of COVID-19 in particular. They say na na-flatten na yung curve.”
May dalawang metric o sukatan daw para masabing bumagal na ang infection ng sakit: ang doubling time at death rate.
“The shorter the doubling time, the more explosive the cases will be and that’s a bigger problem.”
Mula sa 2.5 days na case doubling time sa National Capital Region noong onset o pagsisimula ng pandemic sa Pilipinas, lumawak na raw ngayon sa 4.6 days ang pagitan ng mga araw bago naitala ang pagdoble ng confirmed cases.
“For the Luzon, excluding NCR, the doubling time is 5.7 days.”
Ang doubling time naman ng mga namamatay ay lumawak na rin sa 5.8-days mula sa apat na araw.
“The new cases are just hovering around 200 per day, and for the death rate bumababa din yan. Now we’re looking at mga 10 (reported deaths per day), it used to be 20, but I think now 10 to 20, so maliit na lang.”
Dahil dito, nag-improve na rin daw ang health care system pagdating sa treatment o pagpapagaling sa mga pasyente dahil hindi na ito na tinatalo nang bilang ng mga namamatay.
Nitong araw nang bisitahin ni Sec. Duque at ilang opisyal ng National Task Force ang The Tent ng Enderun Colleges sa Taguig City.
Isa ito sa apat na mega swabbing center sa NCR at Bulacan na sinasabing may kakayahang maghawak ng 5,000 COVID-19 tests kada araw.
