Naniniwala si SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin Romualdez na dapat ang mga pinuno ng Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) ay magkaisa para sa pinahusay na kalakalan at pamumuhunan sa mga Member States upang mapanatili ang paglago ng ekonomiya ng rehiyon at lumikha ng mas maraming trabaho at mga oportunidad sa negosyo, gayundin ang mga pinabuting serbisyo upang maiangat ang buhay ng kanilang mga mamamayan.
“As we navigate the post-pandemic era, we must enhance trade and investment among ASEAN countries, prioritize expanding and diversifying our economies, and develop digital infrastructure and supply chains,” pahayag ni Speaker Romualdez.
Pinangunahan ni Speaker Romualdez ang delegasyon ng Pilipinas ng ASEAN Interparliamentary Assembly (AIPA), sa pakikipag-ugnayan ng mga mambabatas sa rehiyon sa mga pinuno ng ASEAN states.
“These actions will improve connectivity among our nations, facilitate the movement of goods, services, and people, and promote greater cooperation in areas such as science and technology, innovation, and human capital development. By doing so, we can enhance the competitiveness of our economies and position ourselves for sustained growth,” wika ni Speaker Romualdez.
Inirerekomenda naman ng Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang pagpapanatili ng open communication at epektibong pakikipagtulungan sa pagitan ng mga ehekutibo at lehislatibo na mga katawan upang magkatugma ang mga batas at regulasyon sa buong rehiyon.
” As leaders, we must be proactive and take decisive action to enhance climate resilience and promote green economies by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, transitioning to renewable energy sources, and investing in sustainable infrastructure and transportation,” ayon kay Romualdez.
Sinabi ni Speaker Romualdez na dapat magtulungan ang ASEAN Member-States upang tugunan ang epekto ng pagbabago ng klima, na nagdudulot ng seryosong banta sa patuloy na paglago ng mga bansa sa rehiyon.
“Further, we also need to adopt a collaborative and holistic approach that leverages the strengths and resources of our individual nations in improving disaster risk reduction and management, promoting sustainable agriculture, and safeguarding biodiversity,” dagdag pa ni Speaker Romualdez.
