Epektibo ngayong araw ng Linggo, July 18, nagretiro na sa serbisyo si Armed Forces of the Philippines – Education, Training and Doctrine Command (AFP-ETDC) at AFP spokesperson M/Gen. Edgard Arevalo.

Si B/Gen. Francisco Ariel Felicidario III ang pumalit bilang commander ng AFPETDC, habang wala pang itinatalaga ang AFP kung sino ang papalit sa puwesto ni Arevalo bilang spokesperson ng Sandatahang Lakas ng Pilipinas.

Nanguna naman si acting AFP chief of staff Lt. Gen. Erickson Gloria sa change of command ceremony.

“As the Commander, AFPETDC and concurrent AFP Spokesperson, he continued to perform these crucial and demanding positions. [He] has exemplified the highest standards of professionalism and excellence in the service and the AFP will always be grateful to you,” pahayag ni Lt. Gen. Gloria.

Bago maging ETDC commander si Arevalo, siya ay dating Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil Military Operations, J7; Acting Commander and Deputy Commander of the Civil Relations Service AFP; Chief of the Public Affairs Office AFP; at Commander ng Philippine Navy Civil Military Operations Group.

Pinarangalan si Arevalo ng Four Distinguished Service Stars, Gold Cross Medal for Gallantry, Kapanalig sa Kapayapaan, Meritorious Achievement Medal, 2 Chief of Staff AFP Commendation Medal, at Gawad sa Kaunlaran medal.

Ipinagmamalaki rin ni Arevalo na walong Chiefs of Staffs ang pinagsilbihan nito bilang AFP spokesperson.

Ang pagretiro ng dating tagapagsalita ng AFP ay sabay sa kanyang ika-30 taon sa military service.
