Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong on Saturday dismissed circulating rumors of a possible impeachment complaint against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., describing them as unclear and baseless.
Speaking at a media forum, Adiong, who also serves as House assistant majority leader, said there is no information on who might file the complaint or what acts could justify impeachment.
“Unang-una, hindi natin alam kung sino ‘yung talagang gustong mag-file. Pangalawa, hindi natin alam kung ano yung ipag-file nila. We do not even know what actually prompted these possible groups or individuals to even file,” Adiong said.
The remarks followed statements by Caloocan City 2nd District Rep. Edgar Erice, who said some individuals had approached him to endorse a possible complaint, citing “betrayal of public trust” as a potential ground.
Malacañang earlier dismissed the rumors, emphasizing that no impeachment complaint has been filed. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the administration remains focused on governance.
Adiong stressed that there is still no clear act directly linked to the President that could constitute an impeachable offense.
