Kumilos na rin ang National Electrification Administration (NEA) upang ihanda ang power sector sa posibleng epekto sa mga power lines sakaling manalasa ang supertyphoon Rolly.
Sinabi ni NEA Director for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Engr. Eric Villar, inatasan na sila ni Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Alfonso Cusi na pakilusin ang Task Force Kapatid para sa mabilisang restoration ng power supplies sa mga lugar na dadaanan ng bagyo.
Aniya, nakaalerto na ang energy industry stakeholders para sa tuloy-tuloy ang monitoring activities.
Nakalatag na rin daw ang mga disaster risk preparedness at response protocols.
Inihalimbawa na lamang ni Engr. Villar na kung sakali ay mangunguna ang Region 3 electric cooperatives sa pagtulong sa pagsasaayos sa mga electric posts at facilities kung maaapektuhan ang bahagi ng Southern Tagalog region at Bicol region.
“The energy sector must be well-prepared to effectively prevent and minimize potential damage to our energy facilities. Without sacrificing the safety of our personnel, we must also be ready to respond immediately and conduct rapid damage assessments should the typhoon leave a trail of destruction in its wake,” ani Sec. Cusi.
