MANILA – Pansamantalang paiikliin ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang oras ng pagpapa-rehistro sa mga botante dahil sa tumataas na kaso ng COVID-19 sa bansa.
Ayon kay Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez, magsisimula sa March 22 hanggang April 4 ang pagpapatupad ng bagong patakaran.
Ibig sabihin, alas-8:00 ng umaga hanggang alas-3:00 ng hapon na lang tatanggap ng applications ang ma opisina ng Election Officer sa buong bansa.
Samantala, hanggang alas-5:00 ng hapon naman ang pagbibigay ng voter’s certification.
“The designated disinfection day is Friday. However, in case the local government unit concerned prescribes a disinfection day other than Friday, the Officer of Election Officer will also be closed to the public on such day, in addition to the Comelec-prescribed disinfection day,” ani Jimenez.

Nilinaw naman ng opisyal na suspendido rin muna “until further notice” ang satellite registration sa mga barangay hall, daycare centers, covered court at iba pang satellite office.
Nagpaalala ang Comelec spokesperson sa mga magpapa-rehistro na sundin ang health and safety protocols ng bawat opisina.
Hinimok din nito ang publiko na mag-set ng appointment sa registration gamit ang online portal ng poll body na irehistro.comelec.gov.ph.
“Those who have prior appointments on days where voter registration is no longer conducted are advised to contact their OEO for instructions on rebooking.”
Magtatagal hanggang September 30, 2020 ang registration sa buong bansa para sa mga nais maging botante sa 2022 elections.
