MANILA – Nilinaw ng Department of Health at Food and Drug Administration na hindi COVID-19 vaccine ang nasa likod ng pagkamatay ng isang healthcare worker na napabalitang nabakunahan laban sa sakit.

Nitong araw inamin ng mga ahensya na noong March 15, isang healthcare worker, na naturukan ng COVID-19 vaccine, ang binawian ng buhay.
“On 15 March 2021, a death was reported in an individual who had received the COVID-19 vaccine and subsequently tested positive for COVID 19.”
Pero matapos daw imbestigahan ng regional at national Adverse Events Following Immunization Committees (AEFI), natukoy na impeksyon sa COVID-19 ang dahilan ng pagkamatay ng nasabing healthcare worker at hindi ang itinurok na bakuna.
Ginamit umano ng mga komite sa pag-iimbestiga ang 2019 AEFI casuality assessment methodology ng World Health Organization.
“In response, the regional and national AEFI committees were activated to conduct a thorough investigation of the case. Upon completion of the investigation following the 2019 WHO AEFI causality assessment methodology, the NAEFIC and RAEFIC concluded that the cause of the death was caused by COVID-19 itself, not by the COVID-19 vaccine.”
Binigyang diin naman ng DOH at FDA na walang kakayahan ang mga bakuna na hawaan ng COVID-19 ang mga babakunahang indibidwal.
Gayundin na mas matimbang pa rin ang mga ebidensya na may benepisyo ang bakuna kumpara sa posibleng banta nito sa babakunahan.
“COVID-19 vaccines cannot cause COVID-19… evidence continues to show that the benefit of vaccination outweighs the risk of severe disease and death caused by COVID-19.”
Wala nang ibinigay na impormasyon ang Health department tungkol sa kasarian, at edad ng namatay na healthcare worker, at brand ng bakuna.
Hinimok naman ng DOH at FDA ang iba pang healthcare workers na magpabakuna lalo na’t patuloy na tumataas ang kaso ng COVID-19 sa Pilipinas.
“The DOH and FDA emphasize that vaccines are only one part of the solution in bringing the COVID-19 pandemic to an end. Even with vaccines, people must continue with the important prevention measures already in place: wearing masks, maintaining physical distancing, washing hands frequently, and avoiding crowded places and settings.”
