Tiniyak ng Department of Education (DepEd) sa publiko na gumagawa ng hakbang ang gobyerno para maging available ang distance learning kahit sa mga estudyanteng walang access sa internet o mobile services.
Ang distance learning ay isang uri ng edukasyon kung saan hindi mo na kinakailangan pang magtungo sa eskwelahan at gagamitin na lamang ang makabagong teknolohiya para mag-aral.
Sa isang virtual press briefing, sinabi ni DepEd Sec. Leonor Briones na napansin daw nila sa kanilang ginawang obserbasyon na wala pa ring access sa information and communications technology ang ibang bahagi ng bansa.
“By distance learning, we mean all the other traditional ways by which learning has been delivered outside of face-to-face,” wika ni Briones.
Kaya naman, inihayag ni Briones na maaaring magamit bilang medium of transmission sa pag-aaral ang mga cellphone, telebisyon, lalong-lalo na ang radyo.
“For example we have noticed a frequent observation and is that not all phases in the country have access to ICT, or to platforms. We also noticed that there are more cellphones than humans in the Philippines…so cellphones can be a medium of transmission,” ani Briones.
“And then we also have television. Many of us right now in the Philippines have access to television. And, finally, if there are places where there is no television, we have the classic way of transmitting knowledge and news, which is radio.”
Nabanggit din ni Briones na nag-alok ang Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) na gamitin ang mga TV at radio stations ng gobyerno para sa implementasyon ng learning continuity plan ng DepEd.
