Naglabas ng pahayag ang Office of the Vice President (OVP) kaugnay ng mga lumalabas na ulat tungkol sa hindi natuloy na pagdinig sa kanilang panukalang budget.
Ayon sa OVP, ang Kamara ang tumanggi sa delegasyon na pinangunahan ng isang Assistant Secretary.
Bagamat senior official ito bilang presidential appointee, iginiit ng Kamara na dapat ay isang Undersecretary ang dumalo, alinsunod sa tradisyon.
Noong alas-10:07 ng umaga ng Setyembre 12, ipinaalam sa budget sponsor na ang Bise Presidente mismo ang dadalo sa pagdinig bilang kapalit ng Undersecretary.
Sa halip na ituloy ang pagdinig, pinili ng sponsor na ipagpaliban ito.
Inatasan din ang OVP delegation, kabilang ang pangalawang pangulo, na huwag nang tumuloy sa Kamara.
“For the information of the public, it was the House of Representatives that declined to accept the OVP delegation led by the Assistant Secretary — who is a senior official by reason of the status as presidential appointee — citing House tradition and stating that an Undersecretary should attend. At 10:07AM of September 12, the budget sponsor was duly informed that the Vice President herself would attend the hearing in lieu of an Undersecretary. However, instead of proceeding with the hearing, the budget sponsor opted to defer it and instructed the VP and the OVP group not to go to the HOR,” pahayag mula sa OVP.
Nilinaw ng tanggapan na handa silang dumalo at ipagtanggol ang kanilang budget sa tamang forum.
Patuloy umano nilang igagalang ang proseso ng Kongreso at umaasang maipapaliwanag ang kanilang panukalang pondo sa susunod na pagdinig.
