Ipinahayag ni Atty. Ruy Alberto Rondain, abogado ni dating Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co, ang kanyang pangamba sa posibilidad ng vigilante violence laban sa kanyang kliyente sa gitna ng imbestigasyon ng Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) at Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hinggil sa umano’y anomalya sa mga flood control projects ng DPWH.
Sa pulong balitaan nitong Miyerkules, sinabi ni Atty. Rondain na hindi niya nakikitang may benepisyo kung sasagot si Co sa imbestigasyon ng Senate Blue Ribbon Committee sa darating na Nobyembre 14, 2025.
‘I don’t know what he has to explain in the Senate because the Senate is investigating facts, wala pa namang accusations sa (there are no accusations in the) Senate, and he is definitely scared of coming home because of serious threats to his life. One half of the country wants him to go to jail and throw away the key, the other half wants him stringed to the nearest tree, would you come home under these circumstances?’ ani Rondain.
Giit pa ng abogado, wala pang pormal na reklamo laban kay Co kahit sa Office of the Ombudsman, sa kabila ng rekomendasyon ng ICI na kasuhan si Co kasama sina Sen. Joel Villanueva at Sen. Jinggoy Estrada.
Nilinaw rin ni Rondain na wala siyang alam sa kasalukuyang kinaroroonan ni Co, ngunit binigyang-diin, na hindi ito mahalaga sa depensa ng dating kongresista.
‘I do not know where he is because I never asked him where he is. It is not relevant for his defense,’ pahayag pa ng abogado.
Magugunitang si Co ay nasa ibang bansa mula pa noong Hulyo para umano sa medical treatment.
