Pirmado na ni US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi ang resolution para maisumite ang articles of impeachment laban kay President Donald Trump.
Mayroong 228 na kongresista ang bomoto para sa maihain ang resolution sa Senado habang 193 naman ang komontra.
Sinabi ni Pelosi na nasa kamay na ng US Senate ang desisyon kung tatanggalin ba si Trump o pagtatakpan ito.
Nauna nang inanunsiyo ni Pelosi ang mga pangalan ng pitong team na magsisilbing prosecutors sa impeachment trial ni Trump sa pangunguna ni Rep. Adam Schiff ang chairman ng House Intelligence Committee at sina House Judiciary Chair Jerry Nadler, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, Rep. Jason Crow, Rep. Val Demings, Rep. Zoe Lofgren, at Rep. Sylvia Garcia.
May kaugnayan ang nasabing impeachment sa pagpapaimbestiga raw ni Trump kay dating US Vice President Joe Biden nang tawagan niya ang Ukrainian President.
“The President has been impeached, and that is forever. He was frivolous with the Constitution, the Senate should not be,” ani Pelosi sa kanyang statement. “With my signature, the two articles of impeachment against President Trump will make their way to the Senate. #DefendOurDemocracy”
