The National Police Commission (Napolcom) has officially filed administrative cases against 12 active police officers allegedly involved in the disappearance of several ‘sabungeros.’

These cases include grave misconduct, irregular performance of duty, and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.

The complaint was initially filed by whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan, alongside the families of the missing victims. According to Patidongan’s statement, the officers were allegedly paid to abduct and kill the sabungeros, with the bodies reportedly dumped into Taal Lake.

Bone fragments have since been recovered from the lakebed, currently undergoing forensic analysis to determine if they match the missing individuals.

Napolcom gave the accused officers five days to submit their counter-affidavits.

Allegations also surfaced about efforts to influence the investigation, including reported approaches by some figures in the cockfighting industry to Napolcom officials.

Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla emphasized that no one is above the law, asserting that mayors, governors, or senators could also be charged if substantial evidence is found against them.
