Sinabi ni Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III na isa nang “impossible dream” ang impeachment matapos pagtibayin ng Korte Suprema ang desisyong nagdedeklarang labag sa Konstitusyon ang impeachment ng House of Representatives laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Ayon kay Sotto, ang desisyon ng SC ay isang malinaw daw na panghihimasok sa kapangyarihan ng lehislatura at maituturing na judicial legislation.
‘The decision is a clear judicial legislation. The SC, as written in their decision, admitted of introducing a rule for Congress to follow in the conduct of impeachment. A clear encroachment on the power of the Legislative branch, as provided for by the Constitution,’ ani Sotto.
‘Impeachment is now an impossible dream!,’ dagdag ng Senador.
Kinumpirma ng SC en banc nitong Enero 29, na tuluyan nitong ibinasura ang mosyon ng Kamara at iginiit na ang ikaapat na impeachment complaint ay labag sa ‘one-year rule’ ng Konstitusyon.
Samantala, sinabi ni Senador Imee Marcos na bagama’t tagumpay ito ng rule of law, naniniwala siyang may panibagong impeachment complaint na ihahain laban kay VP Duterte sa Pebrero 6.
