Papasok na rin ang National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) sa imbestigasyon matapos ipag-utos ng Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang pagpapahinto sa operasyon ng Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
Ayon kay Justice Sec. Menardo Guevarra, ipag-uutos na niya sa NBI na magsagawa ng malalimang imbestigasyon sa umano’y anomalya sa collection at remittance ng share ng gobyerno sa revenue ng mga gaming operationg ng PCSO.
Una rito, sinabi ng kalihim na pati siya ay nasurpresa sa naging desisyon ng Pangulong Duterte na pagpapasara ng mga sugal na nasa ilalim ng PCSO gaya ng lotto, small town lottery (STL), peryahang bayan at iba pa.
Pero naniniwala si Guevarra na pansamantala lamang ang pagpapasara sa operasyon ng PCSO.
“I myself was surprised, but it could be a temporary suspension only. the PCSO is directly under the office of the president. let’s wait for further pronouncements.If SOJ will order NBI to probe corruption at PCSO; i’ll just wait for some particulars on the alleged corruption at the PCSO,. last friday i issued an order to the NBI re corruption at the bureau of customs pursuant to PRRD’s directive during the SONA. PRRD’s order stopping all PCSO-authorized lotteries and gaming operations such as lotto, STL, peryahan ng bayan, etc., i will direct the NBI to conduct an in-depth investigation into the alleged anomalies in the collection and remittance of the government’s share in revenues, which apparently prompted the president to take drastic action,” wika ni Guevarra.
Kagabi nang ianunsiyo ng pangulo na epektibo ngayong araw ng Sabado, Hulyo 27 ay wala na dapat mag-operate na ano mang sugal na pinangangasiwaan ng PCSO dahil sa korapsiyon.
