A century and a half since her birth, Gregoria “Oriang” de Jesus, Katipunan’s Lakambini, will be honored once more through ceremonies led by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and the Manila City Government.

On the morning of May 9, 2025, a solemn wreath-laying ceremony will take place at her final resting place in Manila North Cemetery, led by public officials and her descendants. This will be followed by a commemorative program at Bahay Nakpil-Bautista, where her contributions to history will be celebrated.

In Caloocan, the city of her birth, and San Pedro, Laguna, where she briefly lived, tributes will be held in her memory. Across universities and institutions, the traveling exhibit “Tagubilin: Life Lessons of Gregoria de Jesus” continues to spread her wisdom to new generations.

At Adamson University, the exhibit remains open until June 6, 2025, complemented by lectures and reflections on her life by historians and scholars.

More than the wife of Andres Bonifacio, more than the mother of National Artist Juan Nakpil, Ka Oriang was a warrior of the revolution, a keeper of its secrets. Under the cover of night, through the streets of Binondo, she carried confidential Katipunan documents, unshaken by fear. Her courage and dedication to the cause secured her place among the revered heroes of the Philippines.

In her memory, in her inspiration, the NHCP continues its mission to preserve history—ensuring that stories of great figures like Oriang never fade into obscurity but remain bright, like the flames of a nation’s undying pursuit of freedom.
