Former NBA MVP Kevin Durant made a move outside basketball, buying five percent of the MLB club Philadelphia Union.

Durant, who has been a soccer fan can also obtain another five percent of the ownership stake in the future.

“I’ve always been a soccer fan and have wanted to get into it in a meaningful way,” Durant said.

By being a stakeholder, Durant vowed to do charities in the community as a way of giving back.

Also, he is still recovering from his injury suffered last NBA Finals.

“While you won’t get to see me at games for now, my team and I will be taking an active role in the community, where I can help give back to Chester and Philadelphia.”

The team Durant was referring is his foundation, “Durant’s Thirty Five Ventures” who aims to build programs that will have a positive impact regarding racial and social injustice.
