Kinumpirma ni Health Sec. Francisco Duque III na noon pang Abril matagumpay na na-flatten o tuluyang napabagal ng bansa ang curve o bilis sa pagkalat ng pandemic na coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“First of all, we have successfully flattened the curve since April, and the metrics for saying arriving at that conclusion of flattening the curve is one, case doubling time of the COVID-19 infection has actually become longer,” ani Duque sa Pre-SONA Forum.
Itinuturing umanong batayan sa curve flattening ang humaba nang case doubling time o pagitan ng mga araw bago muling dumoble ang bilang ng mga bagong kaso ng sakit, na dati ay nasa 2.5-days.
“The other metric to say that we have flattened the curve is also the mortality doubling time has also got longer and is now in the moderate risk classification. “
Ang mortality doubling time naman ay pagitan ng mga araw bago muling dumoble ang bilang ng mga namamatay sa COVID-19.
Paliwanag ng kalihim, napabuti ng naturang development ang ginagawang hakbang ng pamahalaan para sa health system capacity ng bansa.
Sa ngayon paiigtingin pa raw ng gobyerno ang pandemic response sa pamamagitan ng mahigpit na pagpapatupad ng public health at non-pharmaceutical interventions.
“By way of decreasing vulnerabilities by way of increasing physical and mental resilience, reducing the contact among potentially infected people by way of engineering controls and administrative policies.”
Makakatulong din umano para maiwasan ang tuluyang pagkalat ng sakit ang pagsunod sa physical distancing, pagsusuot ng face mask, paghuhugas ng kamay, disinfection sa mga gamit at pagpapatupad ng administrative controls gaya ng work from home at iba pang alternatibong stratehiya.
“Another measure is to reduce the duration of infection by early detection, isolation, and treatment of infected individuals. And of course last but not least, is to ensure that the provision of healthcare services and managing cases is prioritized and making sure that services for COVID and non-COVID cases must be observed.”
Sa tala ng Department of Health (DOH) nitong Martes pumalo na sa 57,545 ang total ng confirmed COVID-19 cases sa Pilipinas dahil sa 634 na bagong nai-report na positibo sa sakit.
