Hindi umano magandang ehemplo ang ginawang pagdiriwang ni National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief M/Gen. Debold Sinas ng kaniyang kaarawan sa ganitong panahon.
Ito ang naging pahayag ni Sen. Panfilo Lacson, na dati ring pinuno ng Philippine National Police (PNP).
“Whichever way one looks at it, NCRPO chief Police Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas set a bad example in committing what he did during his birthday “mañanita” or whatever he wants to call it. As a result, he has been bashed, criticized and pilloried both on social and mainstream media for the incident, even as he has since apologized and regretted his indiscretion,” wika ni Lacson.
Normal lang aniyang mapatawan ng parusa ang sinumang nagkamali, kaya naman nag-iimbestiga na sa bagay na ito ang mga otoridad.
“Certainly, he should get the punishment he deserves even as the appropriate authorities are already investigating him,” pahayag pa ng senador.
Gayunman, hindi aniya dapat isantabi ang mabubuting nagawa ni Sinas, lalo na ang pagtugaygay sa mga inilatag na cjeckpoints sa Metro Manila ngayong may umiiral na community quarantine dahil sa COVID-19.
“However, we may also want to take into consideration his long law-enforcement service to the country and the Filipino people, and his present efforts in supervising the checkpoints all over Metro Manila to make us safe from the coronavirus threat,” saad pa ng mambabatas sa kaniyang mensahe.
Nilinaw naman nitong hindi niya ibig na i-abswelto ang NCRPO chief, sa halip ay iwasan lang sana ng iba na makapagpalala ng sitwasyon.
“Make no mistake: This is not to suggest forgiveness or absolution for P/Maj. Gen. Sinas. Rather, it is an appeal to concerned netizens not to rub salt to injury by going to the extent of posting out-of-date photos to sow more hatred towards Sinas by exploiting the naïveté of certain individuals to join the bandwagon of hate towards the police officer,” dagdag pa ni Lacson.
