House Majority Leader Rep. Sandro Marcos has dismissed statements made by Senator Imee Marcos against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, describing them as a “web of lies” with no factual basis.

In a statement, Sandro expressed dismay that he too had been implicated, emphasizing that he and his cousins can prove the allegations are false.

“My cousins Borgy, Vice Gov. Matthew, and Atty. Michael can attest that these allegations that were insinuated against me are false,” he said.

He noted, “It pains me to see how low she has gone to the point that she resorts to a web of lies aimed at destabilizing this government to advance her own political ambitions. To further repeat an accusation against President Bongbong Marcos and the First Lady (and for the first time ever myself) that is not only false, but dangerously irresponsible. Sa lahat po ng binanggit ni senadora, walang basehan, walang katotohanan, at walang magandang idudulot sa bayan.”

The controversy follows Senator Imee Marcos’ statements during an anti-corruption rally organized by Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) on Monday, November 17, where she alleged that some members of the First Family offered illegal drugs to her children. She also cited supposed long-standing drug issues involving President Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Marcos, and their children.

Senator Marcos said she was compelled to speak out after learning that drugs were allegedly being offered to her own children.

However, Rep. Sandro Marcos criticized the Senator for using such allegations to destabilize the government.

“Hindi ito asal ng isang tunay na kapatid,” he said, calling on Filipinos to remain united and not be swayed by narratives that sow discord.
