MANILA – The Philippines has set another record high of its daily tally of new COVID-19 cases at 8,773 on Thursday, bringing the total to 693,048.

This is the 14th straight day that the Department of Health (DOH) is reporting more than 4,000 new cases.

Thursday’s tally didn’t include the data of six laboratories who weren’t able to submit their report on the deadline.

According to the case bulletin of DOH, the positivity rate from the population who went for COVID-19 test on Wednesday is at 16.1%.

There are 35,480 individuals who tested for coronavirus on March 24.

The Health department also logged 574 new recovered patients, increasing the total recoveries to 580,062.

There are also 56 new deaths added to the total fatality of 13,095.

“36 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 23 are recoveries.”

“Moreover, 7 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.

Active cases climbed to almost 100,000 or 99,891.

Of which, 95% are mild cases; 3% asymptomatic; 0.8% severe cases; and 0.44% moderate cases.
