Umabot sa mahigit P700,000.00 tulong ang ipinamahagi ng gobyerno sa mga pasahero ng barko na nasunog sa may bahagi ng Baluk-Baluk Island sa probinsiya ng Basilan.
Ito ang iniulat ni Department of National Defense officer-in-charge Senior Undersecretary Carlito Galvez Jr. kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Sinabi ni Galvez, ang pinansiyal na tulong na ibinigay sa mga biktima ay umaabot sa P640,000 at mahigit P71,000.00 naman na mga non-food items ipinamahagi ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) kasama ang provincial government ng Basilan.
Sinabi ni Galvez na bukod sa pinansiyal at mga non-food items, nagsagawa din ng psychosocial intervention ang DSWD sa mga survivors na kasalukuyang nanunuluyan sa DSWD Home for Women sa Barangay Mampang, Zamboanga City.
Ayon kay Galvez as of April 1, nasa 28 ang nasawi, 32 missing at 227 survivors na nangyaring insidente.
Sa ngayon ang dalawang Multi-purpose Assault Crafts (MPACs) ng Philippine Navy ang patuloy na nagsasagawa ng search, rescue and retrieval operations.
“Furthermore, the OCD in collaboration with the local agencies, continues the accounting of the victims (casualties and survivors) in order to process the necessary assistance and insurance claims. Our AFP and PCG troops are also still in the area providing all the needed support and assistance to the victims’ families and the community,” pahayag ni Galvez.
