Binatikos ni Foreign Affairs Sec. Teddy Locsin Jr. ang Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) dahil sa hakbang nitong pataasin ang kontribusyon ng mga Pinoy overseas worker.
Ayon kay Sec. Locsin, hindi naman mapapakinabangan ng mga OFW ang increase na 3.0-percent contribution sa kanilang premium payments.
Tila katumbas na raw ito ng income tax na dagdag kalbaryo pa sa mga Pilipinong manggagawa sa ibang bansa.
“It is like an income tax which was abolished for OFWs and even their tax-free income filings were destroyed. They are just totally out of the purview of government exactions for which they will not benefit at all,” ani Locsin sa kanyang Twitter post.
Hirit pa ng opisyal, bakit hindi na lang pagtuunan ng pansin ang pagbibigay tulong sa mga OFW na nagkaka-problema, imbis na dagdagan ang singil sa mga ito.

“Why don’t we just leave OFWs alone except to help them when they are in trouble. Their blood but better wages abroad account for 10% of our GDP according to the assholes who want to take some of their earnings.”
Batay sa anunsyo ng PhilHealth, inaatasan nitong tapyasan at ibayad bilang kontribusyon ang 3-percent ng sahod ng mga OFW na may monthly income na P10,000 hanggang P60,000.
Mas mataas ito ng 0.25-percent kumpara sa 2.75-percent contribution noong nakaraang taon.
“After the abolition of the income tax on OFWs they’ve figured another way to tax you for the great privilege of being born Filipino, poor and jobless at home. Let’s all sing for nothing,” dagdag pa ni Locsin.
Sa ngayon tikom pa ang panig ng PhilHealth tungkol sa mga batikos at panawagang huwag ituloy ang pagpapatupad sa increase ng OFW contribution sa state health insurance.
