KORONADAL CITY – Authorities in the town of Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat province is eyeing for some potential targets responsible of an attempted bombing at Barangay Tinumigues.

The said incident was foiled after personnel of 2nd Mechanized Infantry Battalion spotted two suspicious individuals dropped a sack that contains an 81mm mortar.

They tried to chase the suspect yet realized the bomb may explode any minute, thus the Explosive Ordinance Team of Sultan Kudarat Police Provincial Office intervened and safely defused the explosive.

Police Lt. Gino Fegarido, Lambayong PNP’s chief of police revealed that prior to this incident, they received an intelligence report a week ago that some groups planned to deliver an improvised explosive device on the said town.

Security has been beefed up after the incident through intensified mobile patrolling and conducting checkpoints.

Lt. Fegarido also appealed to its residents to coordinate with the authorities to report any suspicious acts or people in their area of responsibility.
