Motorcycle riders who take shelter and hang out under the overpass when it rains will be fined starting August 1.
According to MMDA acting chairperson Romando Artes, a fine of P1,000 will be imposed on the riders because aside from causing traffic congestion, the motorcycle rider may also be in danger by staying under the overpass for a long time.
However, they will be given adequate notice because this is a law that they must implement.
Artes clarified that it is not forbidden for motorcycle riders to take shelter for a while and put on their raincoats so that they don’t get wet from the rain and then they leave.
Riders can also stop temporarily in the designated motorcycle lay-by areas in case of rain.
