Hinimok ni House Committee on Games and Amusement vice chairperson Ronnie Ong ang PCSO na maglunsad ng interactive mobile lottery games.
Kasabay kasi aniya nang paghinto ng PCSO sa kanilang operasyon dahil sa banta ng COVID-19 pandemic, natigil din ang paglikom ng pondo na maari sanang makatulong sa kapasidad ng pamahalaan sa laban kontra sa naturang nakamamatay na sakit.
Bagama’t wala naman aniyang choice ang PCSO kundi ihinto ang land based lottery activities nito tulad ng Sweepstakes, Scratch-it at Small Town Lottery, iginiit ni Ong na maari pa rin nitong ipagpatuloy ang operasyon nito tulad na lamang nang paglulunsad ng aniya’y “fraud free” na mobile lottery games.
Makakatulong aniya ito upang makalikom ng pondo ang pamahalaan para magamit sa relief efforts na ibinibigay para sa mga apektado ng umiiral na enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
“Interactive and mobile lottery games can actually be very timely at this time because of the ECQ. Many people are in their homes doing nothing. Instead of wasting money on some online games to fight boredom, they can actually support PCSO lotteries as their way of contributing in the war effort against this unseen enemy,” giit ni Ong.
Tinatayang aabot sa P3.75 billion kada buwan o P125 million kada araw ang nawawala sa kita ng pamahalaan magmula nang isara ng PCSO ang operasyon nito dahil ECQ na idineklara ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte noon pang Marso.
Ayon kay Ong, nasa P15 billion hanggang 16 billion kada quarter ang kinikita ng PCSO mula sa iba’t ibang lottery operations nito.
“Even if we can only generate half of the P3.75 Billion monthly revenue of the PCSO, we will be able to provide adequate relief of a lot of communities especially in areas which are on full lockdown. Let us be realistic about the ECQ. Most of the people take their chances outside their homes because they have no food to eat,” dagdag pa nito.
