BUTUAN CITY – Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 221 Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes received praises from the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) after her ‘guilty’ verdict with the prime suspects on the Maguindanao massacre.

CHR Spokesperson Atty. Jacqueline de Guia said that it was not easy to handle such cases most especially that her family’s lives and security were put into danger for so many years.

“CHR welcomes the guilty verdict against some members of the Ampatuan clan involved in the brutal death of 58 persons, including 32 journalists, in Maguindanao,” De Guia said in a statement.

De Guia further explained how a judge treats each suspect depends on their participation such as those who were used as an accessory to pull off the said heinous crime.

“We equally laud the efforts of the court, with Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes presiding, to resolve this case based on the merits of the evidence and testimonies presented, equally recognizing the measures done by the Supreme Court to assist and expedite the proceedings,” she added.
