Napili bilang isa sa mga author ng 2023 Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR) ang pinoy scientist at executive director ng DOST-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development na si Dr. Jaime Montoya.
Kabilang si Montoya sa 15 respetadong dalubhasa na pinili ni United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres para bumuo ng nasabing report.
“Produced once every four years, the SDG report aims to employ the scientific perspective in guiding policymakers on the state of global sustainable development, and serve as a ‘strong evidence-based instrument’ in eradicating poverty,” ayon sa PCHRD press release.
“The said report will also feed the ‘high-level global review” of the 2030 Agenda at the United Nations in September 2030.”
Ayon sa ahensya, dumaan sa masusing konsultasyon ang pagpili sa mga ekspertong bubuo ng report. Naganap daw ang nominasyon noong nakaraang taon at natapos ng Disyembre.
“The 15 scientists were selected by UN Sec-Gen Guterres to author the GSDR and conduct a follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for SDGs.”
Para kay Montoya, isang malaking karangalan na mapabilang siya sa mga kinikilalang scientists ng UN, lalo na’t nire-representa rin niya ang Pilipinas.
Nangako ang Pinoy scientist na pakikinabangan ng bawat estado ang mabubuo nilang mga rekomendasyon sa pag-angat pa ng antas ng pamumuhay.
“It is without a doubt that I assure our UN member states and our fellow Filipinos that our efforts will always be directed towards the benefit of all through science and technology.”
Makakasama ni Montoya sa pag-aaral at pagbalangkas ng report ang iba pang scientists mula Japan, Germany, India, Australia, China at mga bansa sa Africa, North at South America, at Carribean.
