Inatasan na ni Health Sec. Francisco Duque III ang deployment ng mga “doctor to the barrios” (DTTB) bilang dagdag na pwersa sa halos puno nang kapasidad na health care system ng Cebu City, bunsod ng COVID-19 pandemic.
Kasama ang mga DTTB sa batch ng mga doktor na sinabi ni Sec. Duque na tumulong sa pag-alalay sa sitwasyon ng lungsod, na isa sa may pinakamataas na bilang ng mga kaso ng COVID-19 sa bansa.
“The same observations were reported by National Task Force Leads Secretary Carlito Galvez and Cebu Overseer Secretary Roy Cimatu during their field visit,” ayon kay Health Usec. Maria Rosario Vergeire.
Nilinaw ng DOH na binubuo ng mga rural health physicians ang ipinadalang grupo ng mga medical professionals, at hindi municipal health professionals. Pansamantala lang din daw ang deployment ng mga ito.
“Meaning the municipality they serve already has a municipal-hired doctor ensuring that the municipalities they serve will not be left doctorless during their assignment. Health care services will continue.”
Ayon sa Health department, umiikot ang DTTB program para bigyan ng atensyon medikal ang mga liblib na komunidad, na nahihirapang magka-access sa healthcare system.
“COVID-19 cases has reached a critical point in Cebu City and the Department is grateful to those who have risen to this patriotic call.”
Sa huling datos ng DOH, lagpas 50-percent na nang critical care facilities ng lungsod ang okupado na ng mga pasyente. Ito ay mula sa mga kama sa ICU at wards, at mechanical ventilators na ginagamit.
