About 25 Filipinos, mostly women and children, have already sought help from Gaza to be evacuated amid the ongoing war with Israel for the fourth day.

Foreign Affairs spokesperson Teresita Daza confirmed that the Philippine Embassy in Amman, Jordan received a request from Filipinos to leave Gaza.

According to DFA data, there are 137 Filipinos in Gaza while the total number of Filipinos legally working and living in Israel is approximately 30,000.

The embassy is in contact with the relevant agencies to ensure the safe passage of the evacuated Filipinos while the Philippine diplomats in Tel Aviv announced that there are existing contingency measures for the Filipinos stuck in the war, according to the Philippine Ambassador to Jordan Wilfredo Santos.

DFA earlier confirmed this Monday that one Filipino was reported to have been abducted by Hamas militants while 5 other Filipinos are missing.

Filipinos are still being advised to stay indoors and follow the instructions of local authorities in Israel.
