Mahigpit umanong ipatutupad ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang resolusyon ng Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) kaugnay ng travel restrictions para sa mga travelers mula sa bansang India simula Abril 29 hanggang Mayo 14.
Ayon kay BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, natanggap na rin daw nila ang kopya ng resolution mula sa IATF at nakasaad dito ang pagharang sa laaht ng mga travellers mula India at ang mga may travel history sa naturang bansa sa loob ng 14 araw.
“We will implement this measure seen by the IATF as our response to the emerging situation in India,” ani Morente.
Ang naturang direktiba ay isa na rin umanong measure para maiwasang makapasok sa bansa ang India variant ng Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
“The IATF deems that this proactive restriction must be put in place to slow down the surge in Covid-19 cases, stop further spread of variants, and allow the health system to prepare, essentially protecting more lives,” dagdag ni Morente.
Samantala, nilinaw naman ni BI Port Operations Division Chief Atty. Carlos Capulong na ang travel ban ay hindi ‘nationality-specific’ at ito ay applicable sa lahat ng mga travellers na galing sa India o ang mga may travel history doon.
Magsasagawa raw ang mga ito ng 100 percent passport inspection para madetermina ang travel history ng mga paparating sa bansa.
Kapag napatunayang bumiyahe ang mga pasahero sa India sa nakalipas na 14 araw ay agad silang pababalikin sa kanilang point of origin at isasakay sa susunod na availble flight.
“We are conducting 100% passport inspection to determine the travel history of an arriving person. If we see that the traveler has been to India within the last 14 days, then he will be excluded and boarded on the next available flight back to his port of origin,” ani Capulong.
Umaasa na rin naman daw si Capulong na wala nang mga incoming passengers mula sa bansang India dahil naabisuhan na rin ang lahat ng mga airline companies na huwag pasakayin ang mga travellers na mayroong travel history sa naturang bansa.
“Passengers already in transit who will arrive before April 29 may be allowed, but will be referred to the appropriate agencies for stricter quarantine and testing protocols, to be subjected to an absolute facility-based 14-day quarantine period,” dagdag ni Capulong.
