Naniniwala si Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Roy Cimatu na nasa tamang hakbang ang gobyerno kaugnay sa pagpapauwi sa mga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) sa gitna ng tensyon sa pagitan ng Iran at Amerika.
Pahayag ito ng kalihim ng DENR at siya ring special envoy to the Middle East, sa press briefing sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport bago magtungo sa Iraq sa pamamagitan ng connecting flight sa Doha, Qatar.
Ayon kay Cimatu, base sa abiso sa kanya ay mayroon nang 1,600 Filipinos ang nagpahayag ng interes sa repatriation.
“We have to move out. We will never go wrong if we move out now. We communicate with the families of the undocumented OFWs. They can take advantage of this repatriation for their safety,” ani Cimatu.
Dagdag nito na ipapatupad ang repatriation sa mga Pinoy sa bawat bansa sa Middle East
kahit pa maging mahinahon ang Amerika at Iran.
Kasabay nito ay muling umapela ang kalihim lalo sa pamilya ng mga undocumented OFWs sa Iraq na samantalahin ang repatriation efforts ng pamahalaan.
“The situation is unpredictable, sometimes there are some instances of a very surprise missile attack. They have the option to press the trigger. We have to be ready in case there will be some incidents along the way.” wika pa ng Environment secretary.
