Nilinaw ng Department of Health (DOH) na “severe pneumonia” ang sanhi ng pagkamatay ng isa sa 52 kaso ng nag-positibo sa coronavirus disease (COVID-19) sa bansa.
Today, DOH reported 3 additional positive COVID-19 cases (PH50-52), bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 52.

DOH also confirms the death of the confirmed COVID-19 patient with ID PH35.

Sa inilabas na press statement, kinilala ng DOH ang namatay na si PH35 na isang babaeng 67-year old mula Makati City bilang ikalawang mortality case ng COVID-19 sa Pilipinas. Siya ang asawa ni PH34 na isang lalaking 72-year old.
Nakitaan daw ito ng sintomas noong February 29 at na-admit sa Manila Doctor’s Hospital nang March 5.
Kinuhanan siya ng samples sa pamamagitan ng swab test noong March 8 at lumabas na positibo sa COVID-19 kahapon, March 11.
Bago pa raw mag-test positive, may pre-existing medica condition na ang pasyente na hypertension at diabete mellitus.
“Our recent mortality have underlying medical conditions, making the patient extremely vulnerable to COVID-19. So we reiterate that the best way to protect yourself from the disease is to keep yourself healthy and practice general preventive measures: proper handwashing, cough etiquette, and social distancing,” ani Health Sec. Francisco Duque III.
Nananatili pa rin daw sa nasabing ospital ang asawa ng namatay na pasyente.
Ayon sa DOH, lumalabas na “vulnerable” o mas malapit sa sakit ang mga matandang nasa edad 66-year old.
Lalo na kung may iniinda na silang karamdaman gaya ng sakit sa puso, diabetes, cancer at komplikasyon sa baga.
“We further urge those who are immunocompromised and are with existing health conditions to be more vigilant and avoid crowded areas and mass gatherings.”
Kung maalala, unang namatay sa COVID-19 sa bansa si PH2 na isang Chinese national.
