Kinumpirma ng National Task Force against COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease 2019) chief implementer at vaccine czar na si Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., na kanila nang pinirmahan ang “supply agreement” sa Pfizer-BioNTech.
Ito ay para sa “procurement” ng 40 million doses ng COVID-19 vaccines mula sa American firm.
“We are very happy to report that the government and the management of Pfizer have finally concluded our negotiations. Secretary Duque and I signed yesterday the supply agreement for the biggest and most decisive deal we had for 2021,” ani Galvez sa isang pahayag.
Nagpasalamat naman si Galvez sa kaniyang mga kasamahan mula sa Philippine vaccine negotiating team ng Department of Finance at sa kanilang multilateral partner na nagtrabaho para matiyak ang nasabing COVID-19 shots.
Tinataya kasi na 20 milyong Pilipino ang magbebenepisyo rito.
Ang Pfizer vaccines aniya ay bultohang idi-deliver matapos ang walong linggo simula sa Agosto ng kasalukuyang taon.
Binigyang-diin din ni Galvez na ang Pfizer vaccine doses ay binayaran sa pamamagitan ng multilateral arrangement sa Asian Development Bank.
“The vaccine demand has begun to ease up for many big and rich countries, as most of them have already acquired more than enough vaccines for their population and have vaccinated many of their citizens. This has allowed the manufacturer to commit to us that deliveries, though still to be made in tranches, will be in bulk,” dagdag nito.
Sa ngayon mayroon ng 113 million doses ang na-secure ng gobyerno mula sa limang manufacturers.
Sa nabanggit na bilang, 26 million dito ay mula sa Sinovac, 10 million mula Gamaleya Institute, 20 million doses mula sa Moderna, 17 million doses mula sa AstraZeneca, at 40 million doses mula sa Pfizer.
Sa kabilang dako, nanawagan ang vaccine czar sa mga local government unit (LGU) na maghanda dahil ang Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines ay mayroong storage temperature requirements ng -80 to -60 degree centigrade habang ang Moderna at Sputnik ay nasa -20.
Aniya, plano nilang ideploy ang Pfizer, Sputnik V at Moderna vaccines sa lalong madaling panahon at ipamahagi ito sa mga rural areas at dapat handa ang mga
Aniya, dapat handa ang mga receiving LGU na tanggapin ang ganitong klase na mga bakuna.
