Kumpiyansa si Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez na magtutuloy-tuloy ang pag-angat ng ekonomiya ng bansa sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.
Pahayag ito ng house leader matapos na magdesisyon ang Development and Budget Coordination Committee at National Economic and Development Authority na baguhin ang economic growth target ngayong taon mula 6.5-7.5 porsyento at gawin itong 6-7 porsyento.
“I am confident that we can hit at least the lowest end of the target range because the economic policies and measures the President and Congress have taken and pursued are keeping us on the right track,” ani Speaker Romualdez.
Sinabi ni Romualdez na kung aangat umano ng 6 porsyento ang ekonomiya ng bansa ngayon taon, ang Pilipinas ay magiging may pinakamabilis na paglago ng ekonomiya sa Asia-Pacific region.
Ipinunto ni Speaker Romualdez na ang Pilipinas ay nakapagtala ng pinakamabilis na pag-unlad ng ekonomiya sa ASEAN noong 2023 matapos itong umakyat ng 5.6 porsyento.
Sumunod sa Pilipinas ang Vietnam na lumago ang ekonomiya ng 5.1 porsyento, Indonesia, 5 porsyento; Malaysia, 4 porsyento; Thailand, 2.5 porsyento, at Singapore, 1.2 porsyento.
Inamin naman ni Speaker Romualdez na maaaring makaapekto sa paglago ng ekonomiya ang epekto ng El Niño phenomenon, lalo na sa sektor ng agrikultura at produksyon ng pagkain.
Nanawagan si Speaker Romualdez sa mga ahensya ng gobyerno, lalo na sa Department of Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Reform at National Irrigation Administration, at mga lokal na pamahalaan na tulungan ang sektor ng pagsasaka.
Ibinahagi rin ni Speaker Romualdez ang pag-aalala ni Pangulong Marcos sa sitwasyon ng trapiko sa Metro Manila at iba pang urban area sa bansa.
“Traffic is a big challenge to our economic growth. It is eating up a lot of precious man-hours, fuel and money, which could be put to productive use. We have to expand our infrastructure. Maybe, we should build skyways along Edsa and other major roads with private financial support and participation,” wika pa ng lider ng Kamara.
“As to the number of vehicles using our roads, the government can do little. It is a sign of economic progress, which our people should enjoy,” dagdag pa ni Speaker Romualdez.
