The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has assured its assistance in the planned cloud seeding operations in the country.
This is still in response to the fear of low chance of rains in the country, due to the El Nino Phenomenon.
According to Col. Bon Castillo, PAF spokesperson, PAF regularly coordinates with the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) Water Resources Management Division to respond if cloud seeding needs to be done.
He said the Philippine Air Force is joining the call for a ‘whole of the nation approach’, to address the prolonged El Nino in the country.
In fact, he said, they have also conducted cloud seeding operations several times in recent years, after the corresponding agency requested it, due to the lack of rainwater.
Currently, the LC210 and NOMAD 22 aircraft of the Philippine Air Force are on standby, to conduct cloud seeding operations for various dams throughout the country.
