Sinira ng Bureau of Customs (BoC)-Port of Manila (POM) ng isang container ng hog casings na nagkakahalaga ng P1.5 million noong Pebrero 2 sa San Pascual, Batangas.
Sinira ang mga kontrabando sa pamamagitan ng shredding at inilagay sa waste disposal facility ng Joncyr Enterprises, Inc.
Ang condemnation sa mga kontrabando ay base na rin sa probisyon ng Section 1145 o Disposition of Goods Injurious to Public Health ng Republic Act No. 10863 o Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
Sinabi ni POM District Collector Michael Angelo Vargas ang pagsira sa mga hog casings ay nakumpleto para siguruhing ligtas ito sa publiko at maayos na rin itong na-dispose.
Ang pagsira sa mga komtrabando ay sinaksihan mismo ni POM Auction and Cargo Disposal Division Chief Enrico Turingan III at mga representatives mula sa Bureau of Animal Industry (DA-BAI), Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), Enforcement and Security Service (ESS), Port Operations Service, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) at Commission on Audit (COA).
Ang aktibidad ay dahil na rin sa direktiba ni Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero para mapaluwag ang storage facilities dahil na rin sa mga inabandona at iligal na naipasok sa bansa na mga kontrabando para mapaganda pa raw ang trade facilitation.
