Six augmentation projects are ongoing to address the impact of the National Water Resources Board’s (NWRB) allocation of 48 cubic meters per second to two Metro Manila water concessionaires due to the decline in Angat Dam’s water level.
Aside from augmentation projects, daily water services are implemented to correct the impact of any water supply constraints.
According to Maynilad chief executive officer Ramoncito Fernandez, as these supply augmentation projects gradually come through the year, they should be able to collect more water supply for distribution to customers.
Ongoing supply augmentation projects include the reactivation of eight deep wells, four modular treatment plants in Cavite, a new treatment plant in Parañaque City, the Poblacion Water Treatment Plant, cross-border supply through purchase of treated water from Manila Water and leak repairs and replacement of old pipelines.
Eight deep wells produced at least 5.6 milliliters per day (mld) by March 2023.
The two modular treatment plants in Imus, Cavite will be operational this year, while the two plants in Bacoor will be operational in late 2024.
Maynilad also hopes to recover 100 milliliters per day by the end of the year by fixing leaks and replacing old pipelines.
