Nilagdaan na ni President Joe Biden ang executive order na layong paigtingin pa ang manufacturing industry ng Estados Unidos.
Isa lamang ito sa mahigit 30 executive orders na pipirmahan ni Biden sa kaniyang pag-upo bilang ika-46 na pangulo ng Amerika.
Ang “Buy American” policies ay kasama sa kaniyang mga ipinangako noong nangangampanya pa ito upang patatagin ang manufacturing industry ng federal government.
Sa White House press briefing ngayong araw, inihayag ni Biden na ang hakbang na ito ay upang tulungan ang Amerika na muling makabangon mula sa pagkakalugmok bunsod ng coronavirus pandemic at sabayan ang mga manufacturing competitors ng bansa.
Batid umano ng 78-year old Democratic president na dahil sa unions at middle class workers ay nananatiling pa ring nakatayo ang U.S. kung kaya’t nais nitong pagtuunan ng pansin ang mga manggagawa.
“To ensure it’s made in America we need to win not just the jobs of today but the jobs and industries of tomorrow. And we know that the middle class built this country. And we also know unions built the middle class. So let’s invest in them once again. I know we’re ready, despite all we’re facing. I’ve never been more optimistic about the future of America that I am today. Given even just half a chance, the American people, the American workers has never, ever let the country down. Imagine if we give them a full chance. That’s what we’re going to do,” saad ni Biden.
Ikinumpara rin nito ang kaniyang bagong patakaran sa ipinatupad noon ng Trump administration na hindi raw gaanong nakatulong upang protektahan ang mga American manufacturing jobs at mga negosyo.
“The federal government every year spends approximately $600 billion in government procurement to keep the country going, safe and secure. And there’s a law that’s been on the books for almost a century now to make sure that that money when spent, taxpayers dollars for procurement, is spent to support American jobs and American businesses. But the previous administration didn’t take it seriously enough,” dagdag pa nito.
