Nagpaabot ng pagbati ang Malacañang kay Sen. Manny Pacquiao matapos manalo sa laban kontra American boxer Kieth Thurman via split decision.
Sa isang statement, sinabi ni Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo na ang panalo ni Pacquiao ay tagumpay ng buong bansa.
“The Palace is one in rejoicing with the Filipino people as the Pambansang Kamao once again puts the flag above the predestal with his displace of tenacity and courage,” ani Panelo.
Nagpapasalamat aniya ang sambayanang Pilipino dahil muling binigyan ng karangalan ni Pacquiao ang bandila ng bansa.
Naging pagkakataon aniya ang laban ni Pacquiao ngayong araw para pagkaisahin ang mga Pilipino sa buong mundo dahil sa naipamalas ulit nito ang kanyang angking athleticism, power at Filipino pride.
“At the start of the year, Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao made the whole country proud as he successfully defended his WBA welterweight belt over American Adrien Broner. Six months later, he doubled his feat as he defeated Kieth Thurman today via split decision, even knocking him down in the 1st round,” ani Panelo.
“Although his opponent, Thurman, is way younger than him, our pound-for-pound King did not show any signs of intimidation as he embodied what a Filiipino spirit is all about – a fighter,” dagdag pa nito.
