Pinabulaanan ng World Health Organization (WHO)-Philippines country representative Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe ang mga ulat sa ibang bansa na nagsabing indikasyon ang kawalan ng panlasa at pang-amoy ng infection sa COVID-19.
Sa Laging Handa briefing sinabi ni WHO-Philippines country representative Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe hindi pa napapatunayan ng mga eksperto ang nasabing reports na lumutang sa Italy at South Korea.
“We have heard of these reports, this have not yet confirmed. The focus should be on the key clinical features of this disease which is largely acute respiratory infection accompanied by fever and sore throat.”
“Clear focus on these symptoms will be very useful in the identification and specially in the isolation with symptoms.”
Sa artikulo ng The New York Times sa Amerika nakasaad na may ilang grupo ng doktor umano ang nagre-rekomenda na ipa-test sa COVID-19 at i-isolate ang mga taong nawalan ng panlasa at pang-amoy.
“We really want to raise awareness that this is a sign of infection and that anyone who develops loss of sense of smell should self-isolate,” ayon kay Prof. Claire Hopkins, president ng British Rhinological Society.
