The Bureau of Immigration has busted an alleged illegal recruitment scheme targeting former Overseas Filipino Workers.
This includes the case of a 37-year-old Filipina who was intercepted by Immigration personnel at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 after she attempted to leave the country on a flight bound for Doha, Qatar.
Based on the Bureau of Immigration’s investigation, it appears that the Filipina was illegally recruited to work as a household service worker in Dubai.
Upon further investigation by BI personnel, it appears that the woman was illegally recruited to work as a household service worker in Dubai.
The victim also said that he does not have a confirmed employer and that his document will only be processed upon arrival in said country.
Meanwhile, the agency also reported a similar case at NAIA Terminal 1 where a female OFW said she was a returning worker in Riyadh and was only traveling to Dubai.
In the record presented by said victim, he was recruited in a similar manner through an advertisement found on Tiktok.
Such cases have been turned over to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) for legal action against the recruiters responsible for the said scheme.
