The trend of UFC to boxing continued as a former featherweight champion and considered one of the all-time greats. Jose Aldo marked his cross-sport debut in pro boxing with a unanimous decision victory over Alberto Emmanuel Zambrano.

The six-round bout took place at the Nova Uniao Upper Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Following an impressive debut, Aldo’s next opponent has been lined up already, and it will be Jeremy Stephens, a fellow UFC veteran.

Aldo will then be inducted into the Hall of Fame of UFC in July but asked about his goal for 2023; he has his eyes set on getting a done deal to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr.

“His side has already agreed, my side too,” said Aldo in an interview with MMA Fighting.

“We’re now waiting for [the promoters] to get the deal done.”
