Sa pagbubukas ng kanyang ika-limang State of the Nation Address (SONA) agad iniulat ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang ilang mahahalagang batas na kanyang nilagdaan sa nakalipas na isang taon.
Kabilang dito ang mga batas na may kinalaman sa sektor ng kalusugan, edukasyon, negosyo at pulitika.
Ibinida ni Duterte ang Malasakit Centers Act na isinabatas noong November 2019 na layuning magkaroon ng one-stop platform ang mamamayang nangangailangan ng tulong medikal sa mga pampublikong ospital.
“As of today, there are 75 Malasakit Centers serving Filipinos all over the country. These centers will be of great help in ensuring that our people remain healthy and resilient during these challenging times.”
Binanggit din ni Duterte ang umento sa sahod at benepisyo ng civilian government workers sa ilalim ng 2019 Salary Standardization Law.
May apat itong tranche na magsisimulang lumakad ngayong taon hanggang 2023.
“I hope that this law will inspire our government workers to perform better and encourage young, brilliant citizens to join public service.”
Kasunod naman nang matagumpay na hosting ng bansa sa 30th Southeast Asian Games noong nakaraang taon, umaasa si Duterte na mabibigyan pa ng suporta ang mga student-atheletes ng bansa sa pamamagitan ng pinirmahang National Academy of Sports Act nitong Hunyo.
“We can now give our deserving student-athletes the training and support they need to excel in their chosen field of endeavors.”
Para sa sektor ng negosyo, tiniyak ng presidente na sa ilalim ng Republic No. 11032, ay mas mapapabilis na ang proseso sa mga kinakailangang dokumento ng publiko mula sa government offices
“Frontline processes, including consular services, processing of building and business permits, and services for overseas Filipinos and seafarers were streamlined. Passports and drivers’ license validity were lengthened to ease the burden of the public.”
Taong 2018 nang lagdaan ang nasabing batas na mas kilala sa tawag na Ease of Doing Business Act.
Binigyang pansin din ng pangulo ang pagsasabatas sa postponement ng Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.
“The postponement saved much-needed government funds and ensured implementation of projects under the current barangay officials.”
“In hindsight, it also saved us from holding the polls while we dealt and continue to deal with the pandemic.”
