Umarangkada na ang transmission study project ng Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) at Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) na tutukoy sa kung paano naipapasa at kumalat ang pandemic na COVID-19.
Sa ulat ni Department of Science Sec. Fortunato dela Pena, nakasaad na tumanggap ng P4.9-milyong budget ang proyekto mula PCHRD, na siyang ipinapatupad ngayon sa RITM.
“The study will determine the transmission of the disease to help improve and guide efforts to understand transmission of COVID-19 and prevent further spread of the disease. “
“Transmission pattern and disease severity will help in the characterization, spectrum of disease, and impact on the community.
Ayon sa kalihim, ang makukuhang datos mula sa pag-aaral ang pagbabatayan sa pagbuo ng mga bagong panuntunan para sa isolation, contact tracing at disease and prevention control ng mga kaso ng sakit.
Ibabahagi raw ito sa Department of Health para makatulong sa mga gagawin nitong polisya at stratehiya laban sa pagkalat ng sakit.
“The project, is expected to yield data that will describe the transmission dynamics of the disease which will include clinical presentation and course of the disease, secondary infection rate, clinical attack rate among close contacts and symptomatic proportion of COVID-19 cases to cite a few.”
