MANILA – Nakapag-develop ang Department of Science and Technology (DOST) at mga estudyante ng Cagayan State University (CSU) ng bagong food supplement na makakatulong bilang “immune-booster” o pampalakas ng resistensya.
Ayon kay Science Sec. Fortunato de la Peña, nakagawa ng food supplement mula sa prutas na bignay ang DOST-Regional Office 2 at CSU, sa pangunguna ng Balik Scientist na si Prof. Maria Muñoz.
Si Muñoz ay kilalang eksperto sa larangay ng molecular biology, airway physiology at pharmacology.
Bukod sa mabisang immune-booster, natuklasan din daw na epektibo ang naturang food supplement laban sa sintoms ng asthma at para mabawasan ang plema ng isang tao.
“Through extensive studies, it was found that this fruit has several health benefits namely, it has high antioxidant properties; reduces symptoms of asthma,” ayon sa kalihim.
“Bignay is a small ruby red fruit endemic in Southeast Asian Countries, like the Philippines.
Ibinibenta na raw sa merkado ang bagong food supplement. Napatunayan na raw kasi ang efficacy o pagiging epektibo nito sa tao, matapos dumaan sa laboratory tests ng CSU.
