Pinag-aaralan pa rin daw ng Philippine Society of Pathologists ang pooled-testing bilang alternatibong testing strategy sa COVID-19.
Ayon sa Department of Health (DOH), hinihintay pa ng kanilang executive committee ang resulta ng pag-aaral kung epektibo ba ito at pwedeng ipatupad sa buong bansa.
Ngayong araw nang lumagda nang kasunduan ang lokal na pamahalaan ng Makati City sa Project Ark, na isang inisyatibo mula sa pribadong sektor na target isailalim sa pooled-testing ang 10,000 residente ng lungsod.
“Hopefully the pooled testing would be the answer for us to put a social end to the pandemic,” ani Mayor Abigail Binay.
“We are going to make the best of this next two weeks and the challenge really is how do we exist with Covid-19,” ayon naman kay GoNegosyo founder at Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion.
Sa ngayon umaabot na raw sa 33,000 tests kada araw ang nagagawa ng mga laboratoryo sa bansa, ayon sa DOH. Bago matapos ang Agosto, target ng pamahalaan na mapalawig pa sa 2-milyong Pilipino ang masasailalim sa testing.
ANO ANG POOLED-TESTING?
Ayon sa Center for Disease and Prevention Control ng Amerika, pinagsasama ang respiratory samples ng iba’t-ibang indibidwal sa pooled-testing.
“Conducting one laboratory test on the combined pool of samples to detect SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.”
Paliwanag ng Health department, epektibo ang resulta ng mga pag-aaral sa ibang bansa ukol sa pooled-testing.
“The optimal pool size should still be identified within the area of implementation and will depend on community prevalence of the virus and the size of each pool will need to be adjusted accordingly.”
Sa ngayon may 99 na lisensyadong laboratoryo na raw sa bansa na humahawak ng confirmatory at gold standard na RT-PCR test.
