The sports that brought us pride and medals in the last Olympic Games may be our first and last.
According to the International Olympic Committee or the IOC, boxing, weightlifting, and modern pentathlon are currently not included in sporting events for the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games.
In those two sports, we finally had our best Olympic performance.
First-ever Olympic gold medal courtesy of weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, two silvers from Carlo Paalam and Nesthy Petecio, and the bronze of Eumir Marcial in boxing.
To be left out only means we now have a lesser chance of topping our 2020 Tokyo Olympics stint.
However, the sport still has a chance to continue to address the issues before finalizing the Games’ events.
