Hawak ngayon ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) ang tatlong Korean nationals na wanted sa mga otoridad sa Seoul sa South Korea dahil sa pagkakasangkot ng mga ito sa telecommunication fraud.
Ayon kay Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente ang mga Koreano ay kinilalang sina Lim Yeongjun, 36; Kwom Hyeoksoo, 49; at Sim Dong Woo, 49.
Sinabi ni Morente na lahat ng mga Koreano ay overstaying na rin sa bansa at subject na rin sa red notices mula sa Interpol.
Ang pasaporte ng mga banyaga ay ni-revoke na rin ng pamahalaan.
“It is only after these criminal charges are resolved, and upon completion of service of sentence, if they are convicted, that we will be able to deport them. Consequently, we’re not only able to bring these criminals to justice. We also prevented them from using our country as a refuge so they could evade prosecution for their crimes. Besides, their presence here poses a threat to our people’s welfare and safety,” ani Morente.
Sinabi ng BI chief, hindi pa agad ipapa-deport ang mga banyaga dahil mayroon pa silang kinakaharap na kasong paglabag sa 1988 Access Device Regulation Act at 2011 Anti-Cybercrime Law.
Base sa mga impormasyon na nakuha ng BI Interpol Unit, ay mga pugante na nag-o-operate ng patagong call centers sa Manila at dito sila nambibiktima.
Pinapalabas umano ng mga Koreano na agent sila ng lending institutions at kinukumbinsi ang mga biktima na muling bayaran ang kanilang loan para makapag-avail ng mas maliit na interest.
Sa kanilang phishing activities ay nakakulimbat na raw ang mga ito ng mahigit 80 million won o katumbas ng mahigit P3.3 million ayon sa Korean authorities.
Ang pera ay idinideposito raw sa bank accounts ng mga suspek.
